About Sue

Maybe, just maybe, it would be more interesting to read about the kinds of opportunities Sue Duffield said “no” to early in her career, rather than just listing her accomplishments. While in High School, she was continually asked to sing other kinds of music, but never left her roots of singing only gospel music. She turned down a scholarship to play basketball at Immaculata College back in ‘73, to pursue her music ministry. She also said, “no thanks” to a major recording deal and producer who (to this day) still can’t believe she turned them down! She also was highly sought after to sing for a well-known gospel group, featured on many Gaither videos but said, “thanks, but no thanks!”

Sue is, however, saying “yes’ to ministering to women who are in desperate need of a “faith lift!” Her winsome, comedic personality makes this expert communicator a relatable and memorable life-giver. It’s ironic that even though she’s a pure sanguine, with strong extrovert tendencies, the one thing you’ll remember most about Sue is her inclusive ways— touching and reaching everybody in the room. Her music and her style is a big time “yes”, and it’s amazing that she is quite content to let God open the doors—instead of pushing them down herself! When she sings, there’s a powerful anointing. When she speaks, there’s a thought that goes through everyone’s mind, “How can someone this talented, this gifted, and this blessed, be so down to earth and feel like your best friend?” It’s because she says “no” to the typical hype of the mega Christian business industry, and says “yes” to following Jesus and His ways.

By the way, Sue also said “yes” to Jeff Duffield back in 1974 and they’ve been making music ever since! They are proud parents of their young adult children, David and Annie.
